-The Size: Kindle is way compacter yet larger than Nook. Kindle is actually 40% thinner than Nook, and 1 inch taller than Nook.
-Weight: Kindle is about 1oz heavier than Nook Touch, and 7oz lighter than Nook Color, 3oz lighter than the original Nook.
-Battery: One thing is that Nook seems to beat Kindle for battery life. Kindle will last 4 weeks as the old Nook lasts 2 weeks. Now Nook Touch will lasts 8 weeks.
-Screen: although the Kindle 3 has a better contrast it is equal to new Nook Touch of 2011. Both of the readers have no glare, except for the color Nook version as it has a LCD screen.
-Navigation: This is a great thing that Kindle offers is the memory capacity. Nook is touch screen at different sizes depending on the model.
-Memory: But this is what I love about Kindle and very important indeed since the whole idea of having an e-reader is to take your virtual library with you. Kindles memory is twice as big as Nook. Then again Kindle 3 can not be expanded, but Nooks are expandable, I just don’t like giving out extra money.
-Free books: Both have free books, Kindle has more. Public library books the epub, is supported by Nook. Kindle Books can be found at 11,000 public libraries, and in free .mobi format online.
-The greatest: Kindle 3 has 3G free Internet! Sorry to say that the Nook Touch and Color come only with WiFi.
-Rating: Kindle has the highest rating of 4.5, Nook is under that with between 3.7 to 4.3.
-Price: Kindle is cheapest, there is more book selection, how can you beat Amazon, which has the biggest market share. And eBooks are cheaper on Amazon.
-The intelligent thing that Kindle does right is it makes it really easy for authors to publish their books on the platform. This makes the Kindle selection incredibly diverse, offering very low priced but high quality independent books.
This is all pointless when you get the new Kindle tablet for a mere $199.00 that can do everything an ipad can do, all I can say is get it now so you don’t have to stand in line.
They will have to do something big to over run the Kindle. Nook isn't bad, but it has a long way to go. The Ipad is actually better than Kindle with its ibook browser. But the book market is hard to beat when competing with Amazon.
